I don’t need to be a vet to explain why declawing is bad for you cat. But I did find an excellent online resource, by a vet!

As I already said, I am against declawing. When I got LuLu, 8 years ago, I didn’t even know better than buying her at a pet store let alone the extent of damage declawing does to a cat. I have forgiven myself for this and I am here to let everyone know that:


I see LuLu and she is not as graceful as the other cats. Sometimes she looks like she’s limping. Not only that, but I am sure that some of her aggression and stress come from the fact that she cannot defend herself using her claws, the way nature intended. Instead, she has to bite. Biting is a big deal to cats, they only do it as a last resort, so again, this adds to my baby’s stress…If I could go back in time…I would still take her…but knowing what I know now, I would try to educate more people against amputating their cats.
